Bum vs Normal path

After the Prologue, the player starts the free-roam part of the game looking as a bum and is supposed to grind through the daily cycle by finding food and scraping together some money. The player can switch to a normal look by going to the barbershop and getting a make-over (it costs a pretty decent chunk of money though, so can't do it immediately unless you're using the cheats).

The player can transform back to having a bum look, if he's homeless (i.e. doesn't rent the cheap apartment) for 1-2 in-game days. This can also be done manually, via the console (mc_stage_2 set to 'False').

Depending on your look, other characters within the game will react to you differently. While having a bum look, many of the characters will refuse to interact with you at all.

If you want to experience most of the content the game has to offer, I suggest completing the quests that require bum look first, since it has much less content than with having a normal look.

BumThe bum look quests include (it's suggested to follow this order):

  • Jennifer: a short encounter at the very beginning of the game that unlocks a bonus image
  • Martha: questline Stages 0-1
  • Nestor: first part of Stage 0
  • Maria: questline Stages 0-10
  • Sandra: no separate quests for her, but you can only use her services while having a bum look
  • Karen: questline Stages 0-1 (available after completing Maria's S8) and extra scenes with Eddy
  • Jacqueline: extra scene involving MC and Eddy
  • Barbara: questline Stages 0-2 (available after completing Karen's S1)
  • Adriana: extra content at the beach (this quest is poorly coded, since you also require to be at Stage 2 with her, so essentially you need to revert back to a bum look)

You can interact with other characters while having a bum look, but you won't be able to progress with the quests, since all the other quests (content), outside the ones mentioned above, are focused around MC having a normal look.

If seeing the most content isn't as important to you, then just focus on completing the quests for the characters you're interested in.
